New Photographs
Hi! Sorry for lack of updates, I've been extremely busy lately. Anyway, we've been doing a steady numbers of gigs and we have some new photographs to show for it in the images section. You may notice an intruder on stage with us, do not fear, SMASH has not shrunk and cut his hair! You are seeing 'Safety' Mark Cracknel who has been helping us out in the guitar department while MR SMASH has been doing touring sound for a band who are rumoured to not even sound metal!

MWA at York University Battle of the Bands
We are playing the Friday heat, (1st February) in Goodricke. Note tickets are £3 and generally only available to students, however if we know you we do have the ability to sign in a limited number of non students so if you wish to come get in touch.
http://ury.york.ac.uk/bob/ "Megawatt Winged Avenger originally formed in the Autumn of 2005 after the split and consequent merging of two local bands. Its current line-up has been around for about two years. Ash 'Smash' Wilkinson best known for playing 5 consecutive Woodstocks with his old band Seven Shades is currently babysitting a UK tour and so standing in on guitar is James student 'Safety' Mark Cracknel. Their sound is definitively routed in the Hard Rock and Metal of the last three decades with influences from Guns n' Roses through to Megadeth and Iron Maiden. www.wingedavenger.com" Posted on 22 Jan 2008 by Hell "World Championship Hair Fighter" Fleet
Gig Cancellation -
The gig on january 23rd is still going ahead with Mantra, Undergrass and Knee Deep at the Junction. It should still be an excellent gig and we urge everyone to attend but unfortunately due to double booking type scenarios we are unable to play. Bands who know the score around York can probably figure out why, but never fear I'm sure we will grace the Junction again soon!

MWA Live in the Streets of York & Forthcoming Main Support slot with Diamond Head
A big thank you to everyone that came to watch us perform in york city centre as the finale to the science city york festival. It was 10pm, dark and we throroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Now onto the real news; After our successful gig with Diamond head a while back we have landed the main support slot for their return to York and Certificate 18. Expect a lot of metal to happen on Friday 19th October! If you are not familiar with these guys and you're into your rock and metal (first of all you should be ashamed) they are definately worth a listen. Its a shame they always get compared to Metallica because they totally blow them out of the water Posted on 17 Sep 2007 by Hell "World Championship Hair Fighter" Fleet
MWA With Management
On behalf of Megawatt Winged Avenger, I am pleased to announce that MWA have signed to FK Music Management and that this amalgamation will be the way forward for both MWA and FKMM alike.
(I think that this means that their Very Right Reverands Paul, Rob, Sharon, Nigel and Cara can do the donkey work, and we can drink.......err, I mean concentrate on writing and performing our music.... more). www.myspace.com/fkbandmanagement www.fkmusicmanagement.co.uk Seriously, FKMM do great work for local (and one not so local!!) acts, with a few local bands and solo artists in their stable, and should be supported and applauded for the hard work they do to get York acts noticed in far away places. Like Selby. Cheers guys - it's gonna be fun! Righteous. Posted on 08 Sep 2007 by Pedro de la Bongo

Coming up we have a gig with local York band and good friends of ours - MANTRA. It is the launch of their new EP and it'll be cool to see you all there.
Oh yeah, we've got some cool pics from leeds (thanks to Mr. Rob Scott of dicerning imagesO and a couple of tracks on the myspace. M/ Posted on 02 Sep 2007 by Hell "World Championship Hair Fighter" Fleet

Check out the live section. (Yes its to the right of this box dude!) We have coming up a Megawatt Halfwit acoustic set, a pubbe set in Brid and our first venture into leeds at the New Roscoe. (I don't really think we need a new Rosco, this one seems to do the job pretty well).
